Sustainable Manufacturing Concepts: Cost Control Tools For Small Manufacturers ( 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm )

This workshop will bring you up to date with the latest tools and techniques as they relate to making your manufacturing more lean and 'green'. Beginning with the concepts of the 'triple bottom line' and 'total product life cycle' considerations and then touching on Six Sigma techniques and terminology, this module will familiarize attendees with the ten principles of the 'lean workplace'. The module explores the impact that lean businesses can have on their supply chains and issues associated with energy use and production. The module concludes with a demonstration of several tools developed by the SBP to help small businesses make sustainable project decisions.

Sustainability In Your Business: How Going Green Saves Thou$and$ ( 9:00 am - 12:00 - noon )

This workshop, hosted and sponsored by the Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, introduces the concept of the 'triple bottom line' and ten elements of business sustainability. Attendees will learn about some of the fundamental elements of sustainability in the workplace in order to apply them in their business or organization. Topics such as energy efficiency, HVAC maintenance, lighting, water conservation, waste reduction (including 'e-waste'), recycling, green washing, rebates/incentives, regulatory issues, renewable energy and the sustainable purchasing/supply chain will be covered.
