Small business forum draws a crowd

Future forums planned to showcase small businesses services

The Oct. 19 New Markets Forum drew about 60 participants who heard directly from our clients about SBDC servicesThe Oct. 19 New Markets Forum drew about 60 participants who heard directly from our clients about SBDC servicesUTSA's Small Business Development Centers showcased their services at a New Markets and Opportunities Forum, Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Downtown Campus. The free, two-hour program featured SBDC advisors and clients discussing their partnerships.

Showcased were four programs to increase small businesses health through government contracting, international trade, accessing capital and saving energy. The contracting partnership focused on new opportunities for certified, women-owned businesses. 

Client participants included Julissa Carielo, President, TejasPremier Building Contractor, Inc; Elma Demory, President, Allied Associates Commercial Floors, Inc; Rossie Ortiz, Accounting Manager, Sana International Commerce; and, Rodney Gray, Owner, Wave Healthcare.

Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson provided a keynote address, and Albert Salgado, director of the South-West Texas Border SBDC Network, provided opening remarks. Terri Williams, director of the SBDC Contracting Resource Center served as emcee. More than 70 guests attended the showcase. Another New Markets and Opportunities Forum is planned in January 2012.
